Did you know that in Laos there are around 124 different species of snake and out of those only 22 are known to be venomous?

Snakes around the world have a bad reputation in many cultures and therefore are commonly feared and mistreated. This puts not only snakes at risk, but other species that live in their ecosystem because if snakes no longer exist it could have major effects on other species.

Snakes will usually only bite when they feel threatened so the best thing you can do when you see a snake is to leave it alone and let it go on its way.

So on this World Snake Day we hope you learn to appreciate beautiful species that has become so well adapted that they can move across the ground with no legs and eat without chewing or using hands!
