Botanical Description

Rhizomatous, clump-forming herb. Leafy shoot to 2.5 m long, arching, with up to 42 leaves. amina to 30 × 8 cm (gradually smaller towards apex of leafy shoot), narrowly ovate (lanceolate), gradually tapering to attenuate apex, base rounded, adaxially glossy green, glabrous, abaxially lighter green and sparsely villose. Inflorescence arising from rhizome, spike 9-18 x 4-5 cm, fusiform. Bract obovate, 4 x 3 cm, apex broadly acute. bracteole 4 cm long, narrowly ovate, apex tinged red, glabrous. Flower white with spotted purple. calyx tube 2 cm long, white, glabrous. Corolla tube 4 cm long, corolla lobes ovate-triangle. Labellum ovate, cream-white with dense bright purple-voile blotches. Anther crest 2 cm long. Fruits ovoid.

Description of Use

Young inflorescence for edible, plants are good for ornamental.
