Botanical Description

Erect or down-bent, yellow stems enveloped by white, membranous sheaths carrying narrowly ovate to elliptic, obtuse, stiff, leathery, blunt, deciduous leaves that are apically notched. Flowering occurs from February through August with a peak season of May and June on a short, 2 to 3 flowered raceme with fragrant, long-lasting flowers that are borne at the nodes on the upper half of 2 year old, pendulous, leafless canes.

Occurrence in nature (ecology and ecosystem) Rare plant. Found in broadleaf, evergreen forests and primary mountain forests at an altitude of 450 to 1800 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing epiphyte. 

Description of Use

Grind and mix with rice and water to make a paste, mature fruits used to cure cut and wounds. Tea by fresh and dried stems for longevity and as aphrodisiac. Price 80,000 kip per plant, 30,000-100,000 kip per kg fresh, 150,000-300,000 kip per plants.
