Botanical Description

With fusiform or sub-cylindrical, erect or pendulous, many noded, yellow with age stems with tubular basal sheaths carrying deciduous, lingulate or oblong-lanceolate, acute to obtuse leaves that blooms in the winter and early spring on a lateral, short, few to several, long-lived, fragrant or not, flowered inflorescence that arises from the nodes on 2 to 3 year old leafless canes.

Occurrence in Region Chinese Himalayas, Assam, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Borneo, Java, , Sumatra, Sulawesi and the Philippines.
Occurrence in nature (ecology and ecosystem) Found in the evergreen lowland forests and primary mountain forests as a small to big sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte at elevations of 500 to 2000 meters.
