Tea is a famous beverage around the world because it has good taste and is healthy.

The highlands of Laos are particularly suitable for growing tea, Oh An Village is one of the most important tea producing villages in the region, due to its proximity with the big Sane Mountain. Wild tea is growing on this mountain. It is famous for its very particular taste and become ODOP (One District One Product). On their packaging, they list a number of health benefit associated with drinking their tea such as weight control and better body shape, skin care, reducing blood fat, preventing diabetes, helping to stabilize blood pressure, preventing cancer and nourishing the body

Mr. Panu Mua, Head of tea production Group in Sane Mountain said that tea on the Sane Mountain has high quality and a good taste because of the cool weather. In addition, it is organic tea. Our farmers’ group has strict rules for tea production. We are not allowed to  use chemical fertilizer.

The most import steps for making good tea are leaf harvesting, keeping, roasting, and drying. On
15 of March every year, we will start to collect tea leaves. When we harvest, we collect only the bud and youngest two leave on a twig. Then, we dry the leaves around 30% of the initial moisture content before stir frying. Then, we roast at a temperature of around 120-130 degrees Celsius. We stir the leaves quickly by hand for around 25 minutes. This will give the tea leaves a beautiful color, which customers like very much. After roasting , we leave the tea to cool down before rolling it which we prefer to roll by hand, because it influences the smell of the tea. Then, we dry the tea under the sun for one and half days.

After drying, the more we keep it for long, the better quality does fragrance of the tea increases with time. The longer you wait the better it gets.
