The fresh Matsutake mushrooms are mainly sundried and sold in simple and unsealed plastic bags without logos, mainly for sales during off−season in Phonsavanh, though in few cases purchased from villages. The dried Matsutake reaches price of 140,000−1,200,000 kip/kg (USD 18−150/kg) depending on season and quality. The shop sells 150−200 kg per year at a price of 400,000 kip/kg and the shop owner ensured that the quality is maintained. (Pedersen & Phannorath, 2016).
