Damage from the floods affected the dry season rice because villagers had no seeds to plant. Saravan district officials handed over the rice seed in the presence of the Deputy Governor of Saravan province, Mr. Bouathong Khounyordphanya. The Governor of Saravan district, Mr. Theung Chommany, said the seeds would be divided among families affected by the recent floods so that they will be able to grow rice in the dry season.

Napholern village has about 200 hectares of crops under cultivation. Some 180 hectares were damaged by the floods, affecting 38 families. Land in Napholern village is suitable for dry season rice production and is serviced by the Nongdeng irrigation system, so villagers will be able to grow rice starting from the middle of this month. The villagers recently worked together to restore the irrigation system so they could use it this dry season. Napholern village has a population of 847 people in 136 families. Villagers are mostly engaged in crop growing and animal husbandry.
