Botanical Description

Rhizomatous herb. Leafy shoots up to 2 m tall. Leaves 12-25 leaflets, blades lanceolate to oblong, 30-50 x 3-7.5 cm, base cuneate, apex acuminate. Ligules are bilobed, 4 cm long. Inflorescences rising from rhizomes, ovoid to capitate, 3-10 x 3-8 cm. Peduncle are 3-5 cm long. Bracts are red, ovate to oblong 3-6 x 2-3 cm, apex acuminate, pubescent. inner bracts are triangular, 3-4 x 1-1.5 cm, apex acuminates. Bracteoles are pale red 2-3 cm long, covering by white pubescent. Calyx 1.5-2 cm long, apex 3-toothed, bearded. Corolla tube 3.1-4.2 cm, white pubescent, lobes red, lanceolate 9-8 x 2-3 cm, lateral lobes smaller. Labellum brown with purplish brown spots, oblong to obovate, 7-9 x 2-2.3 cm, apex rounded. Lateral staminodes  articulate. Anthers crest 1.4 cm long. Ovary white, pubescent.
