Botanical Description

Fruiting body 0.7−12 cm wide, bright yellow to red at middle. Cap plano−convex, smooth, with a rather short−striate margin (10 − 30% of the radius). Volva is cup− like, is up to 60 mm tall, up to 4 or 5 mm thick present as large thick white patches. Fleshy stem is white, yellow just below the cap skin, and 60 − 130 × 15 − 25 mm. The gills are free, 7 − 16 mm broad, yellow, sometimes forked at the margin, with a subflocculose margin.  The ring is ample, thick, membranous, yellow, slightly striated on the upper side, felted on the lower side. Spore print is white.

Description of Use

This species is also popular in Lao for cooking with ant eggs and many menu at local foods. high price in season.
