Botanical Description

Small orchid, with short and rounded and erect stems, about 0.5 mm in diameter and 10-15 cm long, with a few leaves on the tip of young stems. Terminal inflorescence with many flowers, yellow white, 0.5 cm wide. A very rare species, with harvest no more than 0.3 kg/day/person, fetching prices of up to $0.5-$1 per kg (fresh). Occurs mainly in moist highlands of more than 1,000 m altitude; found from Phongsali to Champasak provinces in a specific habitat of open areas in evergreen and mixed deciduous forest.

Description of Use

 there are signs that this genus is becoming rarer due to high demand from traders. It fetches about $0.3-$0.5 per kg at local markets, mainly in the south. Planting is best from rhizomes.
